Clodiagh were on their travels once again as they made their way to the unfamiliar grounds at Killavilla FC to face Roscrea Town B in this First Division encounter.

With Roscrea still attempting to find a firm footing after their recent amalgamation, Clodiagh felt it may have been a good opportunity to keep their bright start to this league campaign alive.

In a windswept first half, the Drombane side shaded the early stages of the game with Paul Shanahan and Paul Ryan threatening at every available opportunity as they attempted to release Ailbe O'Donoghue in on goal.

It was this pressure which yielded the game's first goal when Roscrea failed to clear a well delivered cross from Paul Ryan, and when the ball fell to Diarmuid Grant on the edge of the area, he made no mistake in rifling home.

Clodiagh pushed on after this and created numerous chances, which were either well saved, went narrowly wide, or in James Murray's case, rebounded off the cross bar. Roscrea then enjoyed their best spell towards the end of the first when Shane Carroll and Martin Harty both netted from close range after some neat build up play.

With half time approaching, Clodiagh once again scored to level matters when Paul Shanahan beat the home 'keeper Richard Brosnan to James Murray's chipped pass to see his effort hit the net with the assistance of the left upright. Not long after referee David Butler started the second half, Ailbe O'Donoghue managed to find space on the left wing and delivered a telling cross in to the area which James Murray headed home, despite the strong attentions of the home defence.

Again, the Drombane side now pushed on as they did in the first half, and created a number of opportunities but couldn't find that elusive fourth goal, and they were made to pay when Roscrea levelled again when Harty grabbed his second after the ball was squared for him. In the 75th minute, Clodiagh won back possession of a cleared corner, and having moved out to the left wing, Ailbe O'Donoghue once again delivered a pin point cross to the back post where the impressive Jack Butler headed home to see the Drombane side once again take the lead. Despite some late pressure from the home side, Clodiagh held out for another important 3 points which sees them go top of the First Division at this early stage of the season.
