Clodiagh Rangers season continued in 2011 as it left off in 2010 with defeat away to Blackcastle 'A' last Sunday morning leaving them rooted in league drop zone. Despite enjoying a bright opening to the contest and early midfield dominance the visitors failed to make it count on the score board with optimistic long range shots failing to work the Blackcastle keeper.

The visitors were left infuriated when referee waved away a stonewall penalty claim when Denis McCullagh was tripped in the box after twenty minutes. The home side made a number of positional changes to address the midfield imbalance and Clodiagh Rangers improbably found themselves two goals down at halftime with McBride helping himself to a brace in the last ten minutes of the half.

The day went from bad to worse at the beginning of the second period with McCormack and Jones capitalizing on the vast space afforded to them as Clodiagh Rangers tried to attack to double Blackcastle's advantage before the hour mark leaving an altogether misleading complexion on the scoreline.

Clodiagh Rangers finally got slim reward that their efforts deserved when second half substitute Michael Browne converted a cross from Denis McCullagh on the right with fifteen minutes remaining.

Shortly afterwards, the Blackcastle keeper had to react quickly off his line and dive at the feet of another second half substitute, Joe Cullagh, to deny him a scoring opportunity. With time running out and Clodiagh Rangers committing further numbers forward, Blackcastle rounded off the scoring when Cathal Scully tapped home at the end of a Blackcastle counterattack.
