Clodiagh travelled to South Tipperary DSL side, Moyglass United for Round Three of the FAI Junior Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Moyglass United started much sharper than the visitors and raced into a two-goal lead inside ten minutes. Firstly, Andrew Yates turned home a shot from an acute angle after some hesitancy in the Clodiagh Rangers defence, and matters got worse moments later when Sean Tynan fired powerfully past Cooke in goal after being teed up by Denis Fahey from the right wing who was a handful throughout.

Though Clodiagh Rangers rallied and got a foothold in the contest, they could not catch a break and failed to make an inroad into Moyglass Unitedís lead.

The home team extended their lead after the half hour mark with a penalty after Greg Fewer was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball whilst committing himself to a block tackle in the area.

Denis Fahey fired home the resultant penalty kick. With half time approaching, Mark Quinlan salvaged the Drombane side a glimmer of hope when he chipped home a delicate finish to reduce the deficit to two at the interval.

Clodiagh Rangers increased their intensity in the second half but found the home team defence in uncompromising form.

At the other end Adrian Cooke pulled off a string of impressive saves to deny Moyglass United on the counter attack, but the hosts finally killed off the game with twenty minutes to play when Mike Griffin slipped the ball under the advancing Cooke to seal the win.
