Clodiagh Rangers travelled to Rearcross on a rain-sodden Sunday afternoon and will be bitterly disappointed to have left empty-handed after putting the league leaders to the pin of their collars for ninety minutes.
The visitors started sharply and dictated the tempo for much of the opening half hour with Matt Ryan and Denis McCullagh going close to breaking the deadlock after good build-up play from Paul Doyle and Tommy Stevens respectively.

Rearcross struck the opening goal in the encounter however, somewhat against the run of play with a neat finish from the inside left channel.

Clodiagh maintained their composure and hit back shortly after when Paul Doyle burned the right back for pace and squared for strike partner, Tommy Stevens, to equalise.

Rearcross will consider themselves lucky not to have been reduced to ten early in the second half when their centre half hauled down Tommy Stevens w hen he appeared to be straight through on goal. Gareth Foxton resultant freekick clattered off the crossbar and was cleared to safety.

Rearcross enjoyed a good ten-minute spell after this and took the lead again with a fine strike from the edge of the area that took a slight deflection leaving Adrian Cooke with little chance in goal. Clodiagh had the ball in the Rearcross net again just after the hour mark, but their equaliser was disallowed by the referee for a handball in the build-up.

The Drombane side pressed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages, with Matt McCullagh going close with a header, and Paul English with a distance strike, but the Rearcross defence held firm and took all three points.
