On Sunday morning last Clodiagh got their league campaign back on track with a merited victory over the Ballina side that were looking to kick start their own season.

Clodiagh quickly got into their stride making use of their home advantage in the early exchanges.

Captain Mark Quinlan made the enterprising start count when he got on the end of an Adrian Cooke clearance, taking it under control with a terrific first touch and finishing calmly past the opposing keeper.

Clodiagh were fortunate to take this lead to the break as Lough Derg dominated large amounts of the play for the remainder of the half, thanks to some wayward finishing from the home side coupled with some excellent defending from John Leahy and Greg Fewer.

Clodiagh again started the half brightly and doubled their advantage when John Ryan crossed for Denis McCullagh to fire home a fine strike. Lough Derg threw themselves a lifeline with a fine solo goal from Jason Comley.

However the home side showed composure, holding the lead and securing the three points with goals from John Ryan and Paul Doyle in the latter stages of the half as they capped off fine individual performances.
