Clodiagh Rangers ‘A’ suffered a costly defeat away to Borrisokane ‘A’ on Sunday morning. The home team dominated the opening period and deservedly went into the break with a two-goal lead. Clearly stung by a disappointing first half performance, a rejuvenated Clodiagh Rangers side set about the second half with real purpose and established a foothold in the game with an early goal.

Mark Quinlan holding the ball up well, played his strike partner Tommy Stevens through on goal, and Stevens coolly slotted the ball beyond the advancing keeper to reduce the deficit.

The strike partnership combined again moments later but this time the Borrisokane keeper was equal to Steven’s volleyed effort, when the ball looked destined to find the net.

Clodiagh Rangers applied serious pressure on the home defence in search of an equaliser, but to their credit the Borrisokane outfit held firm, and could themselves have extended their lead on the counter attack.

Despite their best efforts, Clodiagh Rangers could not find the goal that they desperately needed, and sank to a second consecutive league defeat.
