Clodiagh Rangers
Clodiagh Rangers made the considerable trip up the N52 to Ardcroney on Sunday morning to take on Ardcroney in this Division One league fixture but left empty-handed despite impressing for much of the contest.

Clodiagh played against a strong wind in the first half and applied considerable pressure to the Ardcroney defence, creating a number of scoring chances with Paul Doyle going close with a strike from inside the area, and Barry O'Loughlin was denied the opener by an outstretched leg from the Ardcroney keeper.

Ardcroney stung the visitors on the break ten minutes before halftime with a well-taken finish from a floated ball between fullback and centre-half.

Clodiagh resumed the second half with complete dominance of possession but despite forcing corner after corner could not carve out any real scoring chances. Paul Doyle went close twice from set pieces, forcing the keeper into action on one occasion, and hitting the crossbar with the other. Rob Sheehy, who turned in a commanding display in midfield, blazed narrowly over the bar with a volleyed effort from an Ardcroney defensive clearance.

With full time looming, Clodiagh took further risks in defence in search of an equaliser and were duly punished with two well-executed counter-attack goals from their hosts to leave an unbalanced complexion on the score sheet.
