Clodiagh welcomed Ardcroney to Drombane on Sunday last with both teams looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats.

The game kicked off with the high winds causing havoc with play and the elements would play a prominent role in proceedings.

With wind assistance, the home team dominated the first half and took the lead on twenty minutes when Tommy Stevens headed home a Mark Quinlan corner. Gareth Foxton doubled the lead shortly after when his shot from distance dipped wickedly over the keeper into the net.

Despite continuing to pin the visitors back for the remainder of the half, Clodiagh Rangers failed to extend their lead before the break and would later pay dearly for their profligacy in front of goal.

With roles reversed, Ardcroney were the dominant side in the second half, and pulled a goal back from an in-swinging James Holland corner on the hour mark. Ardcroney were awarded a penalty with ten minutes to play for handball and Jamie Gaynor duly converted the spotkick to level the match.

With time running out and a draw looking the likeliest of results, a defensive lapse from an Ardcroney corner allowed Alan Darcy to head home the winner for the visitors to consign Clodiagh Rangers to a third consecutive defeat.
