Clodiagh made the journey to Islandbawn on Sunday morning to take on table toppers Nenagh AFC 'B' in their penultimate league fixture. The home team started strongly and hit the Clodiagh Rangers woodwork with a deflected effort inside ten minutes, and Paul Doyle, Joe Cullagh and Gareth Foxton all had speculative efforts at the other end. Largely the first half had an end of season feel to it with neither side particularly impressive but the first half was illuminated with a wonderful save from Adrian Cooke, at full stretch to, to ensure the sides were level at half time.
The second half was a far more open affair and produced plenty of goal mouth action. Clodiagh were rewarded for an encouraging start to the second half when Paul Doyle crossed from the right wing for strike partner Joe Cullagh to crash the ball to the roof of the net at the near post. The away team maintained their dominance and doubled their lead on the hour mark when Matt McCullagh was taken down in the opposition area and Paul Doyle held his nerve to convert the penalty to continue his recent vein of scoring form. Nenagh introduced fresh legs from the bench and it seemed to have the desired effect as Clodiagh Rangers somehow conspired to lose a game that they were in complete control of. Nenagh slammed home three unanswered goals in the final twenty minutes to to copper-fasten their league title and send Clodiagh Rangers home empty handed.
