Rearcross 'A' secured their premier division status for next season as they brushed aside a heavily depleted Clodiagh Rangers outfit on Saturday night last in Rearcross.
It was the visitors who marked their territory early in the game with Rearcross goalkeeper Sean Sheehy having to be alert with a near post save on fourteen minutes to deny the Colm Stapleton for the Drombane side.

Rearcross took hold of the game after this and found themselves a goal up after quarter of an hour when Eamon Gleeson finished off a right wing cross from close range. Clodiagh Rangers fought their way back into the contest and were almost level on the half hour mark with a Paul Ryan effort signaling their intent.

Rearcross managed to hold out until half time but no sooner had the second half started than Clodiagh Rangers had been duly awarded a penalty. Paul Doyle stepped up and dispatched the spotkick with some aplomb.

Rearcross responded strongly and Adrian Cooke in the Clodiagh Rangers goal was at his best to resist efforts from distance from both Sheehy and Kennedy for the home side. Rearcross edged in front just after the hour mark when Liam Ryan hit a blistering first time volley that left Cooke with no chance. This unfortunately prompted an opening of the floodgates and Gleeson weighed in with his second of the game minutes later to double Rearcross' lead. Davy O'Toole and PJ McLoughlin added a fourth and fifth for Rearcross in the last ten minutes to compound the misery for Clodiagh Rangers.
