Clodiagh bowed out of the FAI junior cup at the first hurdle on Sunday.

Despite a number of enforced changes the home side will feel that they let this one slip away.

The visitors enjoyed most of the possession in the first half but were restricted to half chances by the home side.

Clodiagh themselves fashioned a good opening through Paul Doyle late in the half when he cut in from the left. Unfortunately his effort was smothered by the visitor's keeper.

The second half was a totally different affair with both sides creating a number of openings.

Cullen Lattin took the lead early in the half when Dominik Pastorek punched away a crossed ball only to find the feet of the opposition striker at the edge of the box. His curling effort found the corner of the Clodiagh net to make it 0-1.

Clodiagh regrouped and were back in the game quickly. Thomas Ryan made a darting run into the penalty box before crossing the ball across the face of the goal. The ball escaped all but Jason Forestal who tucked it away at the far post to tie the game.

Clodiagh were soon ahead thanks to some improvisation by Joe Cullagh.

Some good passing set up Thomas Ryan on the edge of the box and his shot was diverted away from the keeper by the outstretched foot of Joe Cullagh to make it 2-1.

Clodiagh were in the ascendancy and almost increased the lead when John Ryan's shot hit the outside of the post.

With 15 minutes to go however the visitors got a lifeline and found the top corner of the Clodiagh net from a superb strike just outside the box.

They agonisingly grabbed the lead with 4 minutes left when Clodiagh failed to deal with a cross and the visitors tucked away the breaking ball.

Clodiagh still managed to create two great chances to get back into the contest however Brian Carroll hit the post and Jason Forestal's close range shot was well saved by the keeper.
