Clodiagh hosted Thurles side Borroway Rovers to Drombane last Sunday morning in this preliminary round of this seasons Munster Junior Cup Sunday morning last.

Played in ideal conditions Clodiagh started with the greater intensity and were denied three times in the opening ten minutes by the adept reflexes of Shane McGuire in the Borroway goal.

Clodiagh continued to press but had to rely on some alert defending from Fewer and Leahy to keep the pacey Borroway attackers at bay. Half time arrived with the sides locked on 0-0.

Clodiagh again started the second half brightly, taking the game to Borroway and were finally awarded for their enterprise on the hour mark.

A good build up saw the ball sprayed wide to the rampaging Murray who crossed perfectly from the right for Paul Doyle to lash home from point blank range.

Borroway rallied and Jake Moore forced a number of fine stops from Adrian Cooke in the home goal. Clodiagh looked to have secured their passage to the next round when Paul Doyle scored his second from the spot after Colm Breen and Denis McCullagh combined to earn the penalty.

Borroway reignited the tie when Sammy Ryan fired home from the edge of the area after some fine work from David McGuire. Paul Gould went close from a subsequent corner for the visitors.

However Clodiagh saw out the tie to earn a merited place in the second round.
