Clodiagh Rangers travelled to Moneygall for the first round of the Munster Junior Cup on Sunday morning and the match was played under glorious weather conditions.

The first half was a tight affair with Clodiagh pressing their hosts high up the pitch and were rewarded for their endeavours twenty minutes in. Paul Doyle dispossessed an over-pensive Moneygall defender and played Matt Ryan through on goal, who showed great composure to finish beyond the keeper for the opener.

Doyle was at the heart of Clodiagh's second goal on the half hour mark when he crossed for Tommy Stevens to side-foot home from close range.

Moneygall pulled a goal back early in the second had with a speculative strike from the lefthand side of the area that found the net.

The Drombane side responded in kind almost immediately, with Gareth Foxton crossing for Doyle to sweep the ball home to conclude a swift Clodiagh Rangers attack.

Moneygall put the visitors under intense pressure for the remainder of the match, but Clodiagh showed good resilience to close out the game and book their spot in the second round.
