Thurles Town leap-frogged Clodiagh Rangers at the foot of the Premier Division League table on Sunday last as their continued resurgence saw them grab an injury time winner for the second week in succession. Clodiagh Rangers uncharacteristically started sluggishly in this encounter at the Greyhound track and surrendered a lot of early possession to their hosts but in truth Thurles Town failed to carve out any chances that might trouble Adrian Cooke in the Clodiagh Rangers goal.

Clodiagh Rangers warmed to the task as the half progressed and got the their just rewards shortly before the break when Denis McCullagh played Michael Browne through to finish emphatically beyond Coppinger in the the Thurles Town goal. After the halftime interval Clodiagh Rangers utterly dominated the game and created chance after chance, with Denis McCullagh and Mark Quinlan spurning chances to put the game beyond Thurles Town.

However the visitor's profligacy in front of goal was not rubbing off on Thurles Town hitman, Robert Jordan, and when the chance presented itself fifteen minutes from time, he tucked the ball in the bottom corner after a sustained period of pressure from the home team. Stung into action, Clodiagh Rangers poured forward once more and created a glorious chance to rescue the points, when Paul Doyle found himself one-on-one with the Thurles Town keeper, but his shot deflected off the upright and wide.

Clodiagh Rangers were made to pay a heavy price, when in injury time Pat Lawlor popped up in the Clodiagh Rangers area to score the winner amid confusion with a Thurles Town player lying injured on the penalty spot.
