Clodiagh Rangers
Clodiagh travelled to Moneyall on Sunday in the rain for a morning kick-off in the first round of the Munster Junior Cup.

Both weather and underfoot conditions made life difficult for both sets of players with the visitors playing into a slight breeze in the first half.

The Clodiagh defence were largely untroubled by the Moneygall attack and in truth the Moneygall goalkeeper was rarely troubled in an opening period where Clodiagh were limited to shots from outside the area and a glancing header from John O'Dwyer that sailed narrowly over the crossbar.

Clodiagh were more of an attacking threat in the second half with Matt Ryan and Paul Doyle testing the keeper from range.

The Moneygall keeper had to be alert to deny substitute Joe Cullagh from breaking the deadlock after a neat turn at the near post.

Adrian Cooke pulled off a fine save to deny Damien O'Brien putting Moneygall ahead with a strike from outside the area.

With normal time running out Matt Ryan nearly grabbed the headlines, but his snapshot from close range shaved the wrong side of the upright. After two periods of extra time the deadlock could not be broken and so the contest was settled on penalties.

Clodiagh's second and third penalty were saved and so when Moneygall converted their fourth it was all over.
