Clodiagh succumbed to Rearcross in disappointing fashioned in their opening league fixture on Sunday in Drombane.
The game swung in favour of the visitors when Clodiagh Rangers were reduced to ten men for a handball offence against Greg Fewer after fifteen minutes.
Their was a brief respite for the hosts when goalkeeper Adrian Cooke pulled off a terrific save from Kieran Devitt's resultant spot kick.
The home side took the game to Rearcross despite the numerical disadvantage and it took a fine tackle from Diarmuid Sheehy on the half hour mark to thwart the danger posed up top by Doyle and Cullagh.
Despite coming to Clodiagh Rangers rescue on a number of occasions in the first half, Adrian Cooke was twice beaten in a ten minute period before the break with Robert Hartington and Derek O'Toole both finding the net for Rearcross.
Kieran Devitt had made it three for Rearcross early in the second half before Clodiagh Rangers could muster a riposte. John Ryan provided a moment of quality to provide the Drombane side with a glimmer of hope, when a cross from wide on the right wing, looped over the keeper's head and to the back of the net.
The Clodiagh resurgence continued and Paul Doyle reduced the gap to the minimum after the hour mark with a low effort that squirmed over the line despite the best efforts of Jim Caplis in the Rearcross goal. However there was no fairy tale here and Rearcross closed out the match as a contest against a tiring Clodiagh Rangers side in the final twenty minutes with goals from Simon Kennedy, Greg Kennedy and a second for Devitt.
