Clodiagh Rangers 'A' eased their way into the next round of the Munster Junior Cup in Templemore on Sunday last with a resounding victory over Blackcastle ĎA' on their own turf.

Clodiagh Rangers were stung early by the home side, when a long early ball over the top, coupled with defensive hesitancy allowed Eanna Jones to steal in on goal and give Blackcastle the lead inside five minutes despite Adrian Cooke getting a hand to the close range effort.

< That was as good as it got for Blackcastle in the first half though as Clodiagh Rangers took a complete stranglehold of the game and were back on level terms ten minutes later. Liam McCullagh prodding the ball through the defensive line for Mark Quinlan to coolly dispatch his first of the afternoon. Shortly after, Clodiagh Rangers took the lead when Denis McCullagh was allowed to advance from midfield unchallenged, and when his strike from distance cannoned off the bar, Quinlan was on hand to convert the rebound.

Clodiagh Rangers doubled their advantage before the break, this time a Steven Fewer strike proved too hot to handle for the Blackcastle custodian and Liam McCullagh swept home the loose ball. Blackcastle rallied at the start of the second half, but found the Clodiagh Rangers defence in a mean mood, with John Dwyer in particular turning in a commanding display.

As the half progressed Clodiagh Rangers again assumed control of the play with O'Loughlin and Browne causing havoc down the left channel. No surprise then that the fourth goal was the product of more neat interplay between the afore mentioned pair, culminating in Quinlan curling the ball sublimely into the bottom right corner to complete his hatrick.
