Clodiagh Rangers 'B' played host to Shannon rangers ĎA' in the afternoon kick-off in Drombane on Sunday. The home team started the game much the stronger with Colm Kennedy and Colm Stapleton both going close to breaking the deadlock. Clodiagh Rangers might have been awarded a penalty when the Shannon Rangers defender appeared to handle the ball as Patrick Purcell drove into the area.

At the other end, Keith Ryan denied the visitors a certain goal with a goal line clearance after the Shannon Rangers striker had chipped the ball over Nathan Delaney in the Clodiagh Rangers goal.

Brian Carroll got the breakthrough for the Drombane side when he rifled a free kick from the edge of the area after Colm Stapleton had been fouled.

Shannon Rangers applied huge pressure in the second half in pursuit of an equaliser with Leonard Purcell and Loughlin Ryan very prominent in defence for the hosts.

Clodiagh Rangers almost doubled their lead with ten minutes remaining when Paudie Ryan headed inches wide from a Colm Kennedy corner.

Shannon Rangers salvaged a point from the tie in the closing minutes when Andy Austin managed to bundle the ball home from close range after Dermot Hogan's right wing corner kick had been headed back across the goalmouth. A bitter pill to swallow for the home team so close to full time, but truthfully it was probably a fair result.
