Clodiagh Rangers 'B' entertained Sallypark B' in their opening fixture of 2011 last Sunday week, and coupled with the first teams miserable result in Templemore, the Drombane club could scarcely have imagined a worse beginning to the new year.

The visitors had wrapped up the points by halftime with Anthony Lyons and Kevin Kennedy helping themselves to a brace a piece. It wasn't all one way traffic in first half though, and after going behind to a penalty five minutes in Clodiagh Rangers saw two Paudie Ryan efforts denied by an inform Sallypark keeper. Sallypark doubled their lead on twenty minutes with a headed effort from a corner.

At the other end an MP Cullagh header went agonizingly over the bar from a corner kick. Some slack defending by the home team gave up two further goals to their visitors before the interval. Clodiagh Rangers regrouped at halftime and were more than a match for Sallypark in the second half.

Ailbe O'Donoghue, who has been one of the stars of the Youth Team setup this season, pulled a goal back ten minutes into the second half when he evaded his marker and rifled a shot home from the edge of the area. Pat Phelan went close to reducing the arrears further but was unlucky so see his effort rebound off the woodwork just after the hour mark.

Sallypark killed off any residual Clodiagh Rangers resistance when Pat Ryan capitalized on a defensive mix-up to restore their four goal lead and round off a comfortable win for the visitors.
