Clodiagh Rangers played against the wind for the first half, and consequently had to absorb a lot of pressure from the home side for much of the half.

Moneygall scored a deserved lead goal after ten minutes when John Kennedy got on the end of a clever through ball to finish to the net. With Clodiagh Rangers having little joy in their efforts to trouble the Moneygall defence into the wind, Pat Treacy in the Clodiagh Rangers' goal was by far the busier of the two keepers.

Clodiagh Rangers did carve out some scoring chances in the first half, with Michael Kennedy coming closest with a headed effort from a set-piece delivery. Into the second half and Clodiagh Rangers still struggled to find any fluency in their play, and soon found themselves two down when Damien Martin scored for Moneygall from a freekick.

Stung into action by the concession of a second goal, Clodiagh Rangers showed a marked improvement in their play, forcing the Moneygall custodian into a number of saves, with Michael Kennedy and Michael Ryan going close to opening the visitor's account.

With ten minutes left, Clodiagh Rangers finally got their breakthrough, with Michael Ryan netting with a well struck shot from the edge of the area. Clodiagh Rangers continued to press for an equalizer, but in worsening conditions, Moneygall held out for the win.
