Lough Derg

Clodiagh 'B' entertained Lough Derg in an afternoon kick-off in Drombane looking to get their promotion charge back on track.

After a bright opening to the game, where the home team seemed to have the measure of their opponents, it all started to unravel for Clodiagh after half an hour. The Drombane side conceded possession poorly on a number of occasions inside their own half and were duly punished for one such mistake before the halftime interval with Lough Derg capitalizing on loose possession to break the deadlock.

Clodiagh the second half similar to how they finished the first, and with their defence overrun, soon found themselves two further goals in arrears. The Clodiagh management turned to their bench and the substitutes effected a change in the game, with Clodiagh finishing the contest the stronger team. Ailbe O'Donoghue, a second half substitute, buried the ball emphatically to the net from range with ten minutes remaining, but it was too little too late and Clodiagh B slumped to a second defeat on the bounce.
