Clodiagh Rangers B' were back on their travels again on Sunday morning last, as they made the short journey to play Holycross B' at their new grounds.

As was the case in games of late Clodiagh Rangers travelled with a strong squad and were gunning for revenge after Holycross had knocked them out of the Divisional Shield earlier this season. This game had all the ingredients of a derby with both teams almost in cup final mode in quest for the three points.

The first half saw little or no chances at either end and it was scoreless at the break. Into the second half and things were heating up. The home side had plenty of support and this was certainly giving them a edge as they went close to opening the scoring but shot narrowly over the bar. On the hour mark, following a goalmouth scramble, Jody Brennan making his first appearance of the season, scored the game's only goal when he kept his balance and scored from close range.

Holycross laid siege to the Clodiagh Rangers' goal for the last twenty minutes but the visiting defence, marshalled by Mark Conway and John Ryan held firm and made sure that Clodiagh Rangers maintained their slender advantage.

Andrew Kinane proved his worth in the visitors' goal throughout, contributing in no small part to the clean sheet, and making Clodiagh Rangers the first team to take points from Holycross on home soil this season.
