Rearcross B
Clodiagh Rangers B
Clodiagh Rangers B' travelled to Rearcross' impressive venue last Sunday to tackle their Rearcross counterparts in their third league game of the season.

Clodiagh Rangers were in need of a win that would catapult them back up the table and what transpired proved to be a tough and eventful contest with both sides coming close to scoring on a number of occasions.

Early in the contest, a bad clearance out of defence by Clodiagh Rangers fell to a Rearcross forward, whose attempted lob cannoned back off the post. At the other end, Sean Maguire was put through on goal by Paul Ryan, but the Rearcross defender made an excellent recovery tackle. Rearcross came close again when they hit the bar from all of 25 yards out with a fierce shot.

Thirty minutes into the half the pendulum appeared to have swung Clodiagh Rangers way when they were awarded a penalty following a trip in the area. However Paul Ryan could only watch in agony as his attempted penalty rebounded off the crossbar.

Paul Ryan went close to scoring again before half time but found the Rearcross goalkeeper in fine form. Quite amazingly the score at half time remained 0-0.

The second half saw both defences come out on top with goal chances at a premium. Good defensive work by John Ryan and Mark Conway late on denied Rearcross any chance to test the Clodiagh Rangers' custodian, MP Cullagh.
