On Valentines Day, Clodiagh score 3 times, but a weak second half performance sees them kiss goodbye to 3 points.

Clodiagh Rangers ‘B' were in action in Drombane on Sunday last, with Shannon Rangers the visitors in this game of the proverbial “two halves”.

Clodiagh started the better of the two teams and as was the case in the four previous league games opened the scoring. On 12 minutes John Ryan (Casey) made a good run into the Shannon Rangers area, and when he was unceremoniously tripped to the ground the referee did not hesitate to award the spot kick. Andrew Quirke held his nerve to convert the resultant penalty.

The momentum was with Clodiagh Rangers and continuous pressure on the visitors led to their defender heading the ball into his own net for 2-0. Clodiagh Rangers continued to push and shortly before half time they increased the margin of their lead. when Eamon Cullagh crossed dangerously from the right, and when the ball fell to Patrick Purcell his deflected shot found the net for a 3-0 lead at half time.

But if Clodiagh Rangers had dominated the first half, the second half belonged to Shannon Rangers, and in particular George Hannigan. Shannon Rangers won a penalty of their own early in the second half and when Hannigan converted, Shannon Rangers had the glimmer of hope that they desperately needed.
After the concession of the early goal in the second half Clodiagh Rangers seemed to lose their way, and Shannon Rangers dominated the remainder of the game.

Hannigan pounced twice more to complete his hatrick and compound a miserable second half for the home team.
Despite using the full compliment of subs, Clodiagh Rangers were unable to turn the tide and in the end had to hold out to salvage a point from the game with the welcome sound of the final whistle.
