Clodiagh 'B' travelled to Montore on Sunday morning looking to get their promotion drive back on track after successive defeats.

Clodiagh Rangers started the match with a purpose and raced into the lead with a goal from Patrick Purcell. Purcell pounced on a sloppy pass out of defence by Noreside Celtic centre half, and maintained his calm to chip the goalkeeper from the edge of the area.

Noreside Celtic hit back soon after when their right back advanced onto a breaking ball twenty yards from goal to rifle a low drive into the bottom corner through a crowded area.

Clodiagh ensured that they went in at the break with the lead when Patrick Purcell grabbed his second of the game with a tenacious close range strike shortly before the interval.

Clodiagh controlled the second half for large periods and opened a two-goal advantage with a superb LJ Ryan free kick. Noreside Celtic applied significant pressure on the Clodiagh goal for the last fifteen minutes and grabbed a goal to reduce the arrears to one with ten minutes to go when they tapped home the rebound after Keith Ryan had saved the initial strike in the Clodiagh Rangers goal.

Noreside Celtic scored a scarcely deserved equaliser with five minutes to play with a sweetly struck freekick from the edge of the area to leave the score at three goals a piece.

Clodiagh were unlucky not to grab a late winner when a Vincent Ryan volley from close range was somehow saved by the Noreside Celtic keeper.
