Leaky defence proves costly as Clodiagh are sunk in battle of the rivers.

Clodiagh opened the brighter, creating a number of openings in the first couple of minutes.

After 10 minutes, Donacha Cullagh touched a through ball from Eamon Cullagh past the Suirside keeper, before finishing strongly from a tight angle.

The rest of the half was evenly contested but neither side managed to create any clear cut opportunities.

In the second half the aerially powerful Suirside began to win more of the midfield battles and started to carve out a series of chances.

Pat Treacy was in fine form denying Suirside on several occasions, but on 66 minutes a useful break down the left wing resulted in a cross finding Darren Conner who finished decisively to the net.

The Thurles outfit were dominant now, but it seemed as if the away might hang on for a useful point.

However, in the closing minutes, Clodiagh suffered a fatal blow when a break down the right wing resulted in a cross finding the of head of Conner, and again, from close range he made no mistake.

Best for Clodiagh were Pat Treacy and debutant left back Eugene Bourke.
