Clodiagh Rangers opening brightly, dominating possession, carving out a number of half chances.

On 15 minutes, Rory Ryan's long ball was back headed to the net by Joe Cullagh, leaving the keeper with no chance as the ball went in of the right-hand post.

However Clodiagh allowed Kilcommon back into the game. Following a low cross from the left wing, Jody Ryan sidefooted home from close range to equalise for Kilcommon.

On 38 minutes Donacha Cullagh won the ball just outside the box and fired a low shot into the bottom corner to edge Clodiagh ahead again.

Just before half time poor Clodiagh defending from a corner allowed Denis Stapleton to tap home from close range to leave the side level at halftime.

In the second half, Clodiagh Rangers found themselves on the receiving end of wave after wave of Kilcommon attacks, and it is tribute to the team's resilience in defence, and the security afforded by Pat Treacy in goal, that Kilcommon failed to find a lead goal.

Clodiagh Rangers continued to chase a lead goal themselves, though the visitors had now adopted a counter attack strategy, with Morgan Greene and Donnacha Cullagh putting in good performances in the middle.

The winning goal arrived in fortuitous circumstances when a Kilcommon defender blasted a clearance against a teammate's posterior, with the ball rebounding to the net.

For the remaining 20 minutes Clodiagh hung on grimly to claim 3 points for the first time this season.
