Clodiagh Rangers B entertained premier league side Thurles Town A' in the second round of the Tipperary Cup on Sunday last and put up stern resistance before finally submitting on 3-1 scoreline.
Though Thurles Town enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the first half it looked as if the home side would frustrate their opponents as halftime approached with few chances afforded to the visitors. However Thurles Town took the lead shortly before the interval when Tom Kirby took advantage of some confusion in the Clodiagh Rangers defence to slot home from the edge of the area. Clodiagh Rangers best spell of the game came at the beginning of the second half and they were rewarded for their efforts when Owen Shortt raided down the right wing and crossed for Pat Phelan to fire a deserved equalizer to the roof of the net.

As the old football adage goes, you're at your weakest after you score', and this proved the case as Eoin Dorney responded immediately to restore Thurles Town's lead. Clodiagh Rangers management emptied the bench in the last half hour in an effort force extra time but to no avail, as Thurles Town managed to keep possession well and made the game safe on the blow of full time with a third goal to put them safely through to the third round.
