Clodiagh C began their campaign with a trip to Templetuohy on what was a perfect evening for football.

Clodiagh took the initiative early and went ahead when John Ryan Nippy found David Considine on the left hand side of the pitch. Considine turned and lobbed the keeper from outside the box to make it 0-1.

Clodiagh continued to ask questions of the home side with Owen Ryan, James Coffey, David Considine and Pa O’ Dwyer menacing in attack.

Unfortunately though Templetuohy scored with one of the few chances they created. John Leahy broke inside the Clodiagh rear guard and emphatically slotted past the keeper.

Templetuohy put a further dent in Clodiagh’s aspirations just after half time when Clodiagh failed to clear their lines.

The ball made its way over to Tony Buston on the right hand side of the penalty area and he struck home from close range. Clodiagh’s response was quick. Sean Maguire and Pierce Ryan played a one/two allowing Ryan to shoot from 20 yards.

His shot to the bottom left was spilled by the keeper but David Considine was on hand to square the game at 2-2.

The visitor’s tails were up and they soon got in front. This time it was the home side who failed to clear a corner. The ball fell to Shane Kinane who made no mistake from 10 yards.
