Clodiagh's penultimate league game of the season took place on a rain sodden pitch at Latteragh on Sunday last. The conditions while not ideal contributed to an eventful game which was topsy-turvy from start to finish.

The home team enjoyed most of the early possession and came close to going ahead when a long range strike by Paudie Ryan was tipped over the cross bar by Eamon Fogarty in the Clodiagh goal.

Despite having less possession than the home side most of the early chances fell to Clodiagh. David Considine missed the target when played through on goal before Pierce Ryan missed the target with a header.

Clodiagh were not to be denied however and took the lead when Leonard Purcell won possession inside the penalty area before composing himself to slip the ball past the keeper.

A succession of set pieces followed for Sallypark and they made the visitors pay when a corner delivery swirled in the air and was then volleyed home at the back post by Paraic Ryan.

Sallypark then took the lead when they broke down the Clodiagh right creating a simple opportunity for Eugene Foley to finish.

The chances kept coming and Clodiagh equalised just before the break when David Considine was taken down in the penalty area by the Sallypark keeper after a precision pass by Pat Phelan.

Considine got up to take the penalty himself and he brought Clodiagh on terms with his 18th of the season.

The second half produced more of the same. Thomas Ryan was played through on goal by a clever pass from Leonard Purcell however the keeper saved to insure that the game stayed level. Minutes later another corner delivery from Sallypark caused chaos in the Clodiagh box.

In clearing his goal line Dominik Pastorek struck a Clodiagh player only for the ball to cross over the line.

Clodiagh fought back from the reverse and created more chances. David Considine and Pierce Ryan both came close again before Donnacha Cullagh equalised for Clodiagh.

A long clearance by keeper Eamon Fogarty was controlled by Cullagh who got goal side of his marker and then lobbed the keeper with a touch of Cullagh magic to give the visitors a life line.

Clodiagh had to hang on in the final moments and were relieved when a late penalty claim from Sallypark was waved away by the referee.

The team showed great character and were delighted with the draw as it ended a run of disappointing results.
