Clodiagh Rangers 'C' played only their second game of the calendar year on Sunday with a trip to Montore on the menu to play Noreside Celtic.

Clodiagh began well and created a couple of chances in the opening exchanges but failed to trouble their ‘keeper.

Noreside Celtic snatched the lead after the quarter hour mark when they broke from a defensive corner and finished off a lightning counter-attack with a well-taken goal despite the best efforts of Morgan Greene in the Clodiagh goal.

Noreside Celtic assumed control of the game after taking the lead and were unlucky not to score a second when they rattled the upright with a stinging shot from the edge of the area.

Clodiagh Rangers slowly steadied themselves and benefiting from better possession started to generate some goal-scoring opportunities at the other end. James Coffey latched onto a through ball by Jack Spillane, and while his first attempt was blocked by the ‘keeper, he kept his composure to head home the rebound and restore parity just before the halftime interval.

Clodiagh Rangers had greater control of the game in the second half but profligacy in front of goal ensured that they would not take all three points with a number of guilt edged chances to take the win spurned.

In the end the Drombane side had to satisfy themselves with a draw, which astonishingly was their eighth draw of the campaign.
