Clodiagh had to dig deep to maintain their title push on Sat morning last in Drombane when they came up a determined Killavilla side who fought all the way to the final whistle.
The opening goal arrived just on half time when Stephen Ferncombe forced the ball home from close range to put the home side ahead at the break. Ferncombe grabbed his second shortly after the resumption with a neat finish to give Clodiagh some breathing space.
However, Killavilla were right back in the match eight minutes later when a dangerous corner kick was nodded in at the back post to leave it 2-1.
Clodiagh needed to respond quickly to stem the increasing confidence of the visitors and after a probing attack the ball broke loose 25 yards out from goal to the feet of Sean Ryan.
The young Curraghduff defender didn't need to be asked twice as he struck a piledriver all the way to the net past the despairing hands of the keeper and in off the underside of the crossbar.
This goal of the season contender gave the home side the cushion they needed as with three minutes remaining Killavilla broke through to score their second goal from close range and set up a nervy end to the contest.
However, Clodiagh kept their composure and forced Killavilla to defend for the remaining minutes to seal another three league points.
With two league matches remaining Clodiagh are one point clear at the summit from 2nd placed Nenagh who visit Drombane next on March 14th for what now looks like being a title decider.
