Our U13's booked their place in the Cairdeas Cup final following a narrow second leg victory over Carlow side Burrin Celtic in Drombane on Saturday.

With Clodiagh holding a 2-0 advantage from the first leg in Carlow it was up to the visitors to force the pace of this match and they went about their business with some purpose in the first half.

Burrin struck first after 18 minutes when their striker beat the offside trap and lobbed outrushing keeper James Griffin from 20 yards. Clodiagh were somewhat sluggish to get going and it wasn't until the turnaround that they began to ask questions of the visitor's rearguard.

When Mike Ryan(Harry) won a free out on the right flank Sean Phillips whipped in an inviting cross and Luke Shanahan expertly volleyed home from eight yards.

With ten minutes remaining Clodiagh wrapped up the tie when Charlie Yates got on the end of another cross and drove the ball home to make it 2-1 on the day and 4-1 on aggregate.

Clodiagh will now face Newbridge Town in the final which is set for the May Bank Holiday Monday at a venue yet to be decided.

Thanks to all the parents who helped out with catering for our visitors who were well looked after.
