Clodiagh U13's Premier league title ambitions suffered a serious blow when they lost a tight game against Nenagh A in Drombane last Saturday morning.

Despite the difficult conditions both sides tried hard to play football and served up an entertaining first half that finished scoreless. The breakthrough came 12 minutes into the second half when Clodiagh captain Jack Ryan latched onto an incisive pass and expertly slotted the ball under the Nenagh keeper from 10 yards to put the home side in front.

They say a team is most vulnerable to conceding just after they have scored themselves and that was indeed the case in this game.

Within seven minutes Nenagh had equalised and put themselves 2-1 up as Clodiagh's defensive frailties were exposed to their detriment.

The visitors held out for an unlikely victory and three vital league points while the Drombane side were left to rue two costly errors which spoiled an otherwise strong performance against highly rated opposition.
