Clodiagh U14's got the better of Nenagh AFC in Brickfields following another spirited performance against the title chasing hosts.

The home side were first to settle and had Clodiagh on the back foot for much of the first half. Mikey Corcoran put them in front after 10 minutes and but for some fantastic goalkeeping from James Griffin, Clodiagh would have found themselves further behind.

However they eventually began to get a foothold on proceedings and Jason O'Dwyer fired in an equaliser just before the break with a well struck free kick from 30 yards.

The second half saw Clodiagh up the momentum and they took the lead through Stephen Ferncombe following good work down the left flank involving Charlie Yates and Jamie Davern.

With tensions rising Nenagh striker Kenny Lee was taken down in the area and he expertly fired home the equaliser. However Clodiagh responded minutes later when Stephen Ferncombe grabbed his second to seal the victory and consign Nenagh to their first defeat of the season.

Best for Clodiagh were James Griffin, Oisin Treacy and Luke Shanahan but the performances of Sean Ryan and Mikey Griffin in the second half also deserve mention.

Clodiagh U14's have been drawn away to Letterkenny Rovers in the last 32 of the SFAI National Cup so a long journey awaits the boys. Tie to be played on 28th January 2017.
